Job summary

Mary Bridge Children's Hospital & Health Network is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) to join the Pediatric Urgent Care team in Gig Harbor, WA. The MA-C works under licensed practitioners to provide safe clinical care and collaborate with physicians, APPs, nurses and front-office staff.

The role includes patient interviews, vital signs, specimen collection, medication administration, and patient-family instruction.

Qualifications

• WA MA-C certification required.
• Minimum of one year of healthcare experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Organize patient flow with front office staff.
• Interview patients.
• Obtain vital signs.
• Assist patients in preparing for exams or treatments.
• Perform specimen collection, including venipuncture.
• Administer medications per Washington DOH regs and competency.
• Relay instructions to patients and families/caregivers.
• Send/receive patient records and facilitate referrals.

This per diem Medical Assistant position would primarily support our Pediatric Urgent Care Clinic in Gig Harbor, but would also allow you to pick up additional shifts and support our Pediatric Urgent Care Clinics in Tacoma and Olympia. Position Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) is an integral part of the Physician/Advanced Practice Provider (APP) office team working under the direction and supervision of a licensed healthcare practitioner. Work situations require performance of safe clinical skills within the scope of practice of the MA-C. The MA-C has continuous contact with physicians, APPs, nurses, front office staff, patients and their families/caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include:
  
  
  
  • Organizing patient flow in collaboration with the front office staff
  
  
  • Interviewing patients
  
  
  • Obtaining vital signs
  
  
  • Assisting patients in preparing for exams or treatments
  
  
  • Performing specimen collection, including venipuncture
  
  
  • Administration of medications in compliance with Washington State Department of Health regulations and documented competency
  
  
  • Relaying instructions/information to patients and their families/caregivers

Requirements

• Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C)


• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred


• Current BLS certification

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $24.83 - $35.71 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
