Qualifications

Graduate of a medical assistant program or one year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
Desire for certification as a Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

Take patients to rooms and obtain vital signs.
Assist with medical procedures and perform phlebotomy.
Maintain electronic medical records (EMR) and handle billing/coding tasks.
Greet patients, schedule appointments, answer phones, and perform clerical work.
Process prior authorizations and complete FMLA paperwork as needed.

Medical Assistantsperform administrative and clinical duties under the direct supervision of a medical provider – physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner – in the medical office setting.

The Medical Assistant works closely with the physician in the practice/center clinical setting, assists with direct patient care, and serves as the clinical liaison between physician and patient and between physician and the office staff. The incumbent is responsible for promoting communication among all care providers, patients, and office staff regarding the care plan for the patient as defined by the attending physician. This individual attends to patients utilizing the age-appropriate principles of growth and development for patients of all ages according to the practice specialty.
