Job summary

Avera Spencer Clinic is seeking a Medical Assistant to join a multidisciplinary team. You will collect blood and specimens, run EKGs and basic tests, sterilize instruments, and handle lab reports while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

You will work with a team to coordinate orders, explain patient notices, and support offsite collections as needed. The role emphasizes accurate documentation and compassionate patient care at the Spencer location.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or CCMA preferred upon hire.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or CMA with AMCA/AAMA/NCCT recognition upon hire.
• RMA/NCMA credentials based on organization guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood and other specimens from clinic patients following standards.
• Retrieve, check, cancel, and place orders using a computer system.
• Perform EKGs, tympanograms, oximetry, pulmonary function tests, and monitor setup.
• Sterilize instruments and maintain autoclave records.
• Process lab results, cancellations, inquiries, and lab reports.
• Assist with waived lab tests and quality control procedures.
• Coordinate lab orders/reports for physicians and nursing facilities.
