Steadfast Employment is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical teams in Houma, LA. You will prepare patients for exams, take vital signs, assist during procedures, collect specimens, and handle basic lab tasks.

You will also maintain medical records and explain procedures to patients. The role includes administrative duties such as greeting patients, scheduling, answering phones, verifying insurance, and ensuring confidentiality under HIPAA.

• Prepare patients for exams and procedures.
• Record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration).
• Assist providers during examinations.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
• Perform basic lab tests (urinalysis, blood draws, etc.).
• Administer medications and injections as directed by a physician.
• Sterilize and maintain medical instruments and equipment.
• Update and maintain patients’ medical records.
• Explain treatment procedures, medications, and diets to patients.
• Greet and check in patients.
• Schedule appointments and manage patient flow.
• Answer phones and respond to inquiries.
• Verify insurance and process billing/coding information.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
• Handle correspondence, filing, and data entry.
