Job summary

Downtown Public Health Center in Seattle, WA, is hiring two Medical Assistants to support primary care and addiction medicine services. The role involves taking vitals, injections, labs, point-of-care testing, and vaccine administration under provider delegation.

We seek candidates with a WA-DOH certified CMA, at least one academic year of post-secondary medical assisting education, and current BLS-CPR. Prior EPIC experience and trauma-informed care are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Must have Certified Medical Assistant (C-MA) with Washington Department of Health in good standing.
  • One academic year of formal education at a post-secondary medical assisting school or the equivalent.
  • Current BLS-CPR for Healthcare Providers or ability to obtain upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients through taking vital signs and reconciling records.
  • Perform injections, lab draws, vision and hearing screenings.
  • Perform point of care testing and report abnormal lab values to providers.
  • Instruct patients on proper collection techniques for urine tests, swabs, and screening questionnaires.
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms.
  • Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and report to the provider.
  • Assist providers with procedures and medical exams.
  • Act as a liaison between patient, family, and providers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Please note: There are two (2) openings.

This medical assistant will work in a fast-paced primary care clinic at Downtown Family Medicine. Pathways is an addiction medicine clinic serving vulnerable populations treating substance use disorder and other conditions. Medical assistant will work providers to perform tasks such as vitals, labs, tests, vaccine administration, and medication administration per provider delegation.

The purpose of Community Health Services (CHS) is to assure that basic health and human services are available to the most vulnerable people in King County. CHS provides direct services through its Public Health Center system as well as assures access to quality services through partnerships and regional programs.

Note: This recruitment will be used to create an eligibility pool to fill additional Career Service, Term-Limited Temporary (TLT), or Special Duty Assignment (SDA) vacancies that may occur over the next six months.

Required:

  • Current BLS-CPR for Healthcare Providers or ability to obtain upon hire.

Work Schedule

This position is in-person, Monday through Friday 8am-5pm. This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime.

Work Location

This position is located at Downtown Public Health Center, 2124 4th Ave Seattle, WA 98121.

Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
