Position Summary

Medical Assistant - Patchogue

The successful candidate will assist physicians and nurses in the care of patients and families by completing assigned patient care tasks. This role requires safe and compassionate care with an emphasis on understanding the challenges faced by hospitalized patients or those undergoing procedures and diagnostic tests.

Job Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Assists with maintaining patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas, including escorting patients.
• Obtains vital signs, weights, and Electrocardiograms (EKG) when needed; assists with blood collection and phlebotomy as required; ensures chart availability with relevant lab work and test reports for physicians.
• Assists physicians with procedures such as GI procedures and all medical exams.
• Ensures exam rooms and treatment areas are cleaned after each patient and prepared for the next; performs light housekeeping duties such as cleaning spills.
• Assists patients with obtaining food, toileting, ambulating, and maintaining comfort.
• Ensures completion of patient charges as per policy.
• Clean and sterilizes designated equipment after use; answers telephone in treatment area and assists staff in scheduling treatments; assists patients and communicates with physicians to obtain prescription renewals as needed.
• Stocks exam and treatment rooms with medical supplies, linen, and designated chart forms.
• Assists with training of new Medical Assistants and may perform administrative responsibilities as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of a Medical Assistant program or at least 2 years of Medical Assistant experience. Excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, and customer service skills. Basic computer knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Medical Assistant certification. Knowledge of EPIC Ambulatory. Knowledge of medical terminology.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Salary: $61,692.75 annually (range $61,692.75 – $61,692.75). Actual salaries are based on experience, specialty, education, and hospital needs. The salary range does not include bonuses, incentive, differential pay, or other compensation or benefits.
