About this position

At OP Specialty Bracing, kids are at the heart of everything we do. Our cause is simple: to improve the lives of children with orthopedic conditions and support their families every step of the way. From fractures and clubfoot to cerebral palsy, scoliosis, plagiocephaly, limb loss, and more, our certified clinical team treats the whole child in partnership with their care team. Helping kids is what we do; changing their lives is how we make a difference.

OPSB offers specialized pediatric clinics across the country, including in major children’s hospitals, ensuring that every child gets top-notch, kid-focused care. Our pediatric focus means that all our resources, from products to educational videos and print materials, are designed specifically towards the treatment of kids. With a growing library of resources and patient stories, we make the transition to treatment easier for families.

We’re not just providing care—we’re pioneering it! Our team is constantly developing new, cutting-edge solutions in pediatric orthotics and prosthetics, because we believe every child deserves the very best. At OP Specialty Bracing, pediatric care is not just something we do—it’s our passion, our purpose, and our promise to the kids we serve.

OP Specialty Bracing is growing, and we believe our team is the key to our success. We are hiring a Medical Assistant/Orthotic Fitter to join our team.

Position Description:

We are seeking an Orthotic Fitter to join our team. No prior orthotic experience is required—we will provide training. Candidates with backgrounds in clinical or allied health settings, including cast technicians, athletic trainers, physical therapist assistants (PTAs), exercise science, physiology, kinesiology, or related fields are encouraged to apply. This is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy hands-on patient care, working with children, and learning specialized clinical skills in a supportive healthcare environment.

The ideal candidate will provide compassionate patient care and enhance the patient experience by facilitating an efficient process flow. This individual will be conscientious, self-motivated, and solutions oriented.

As the Orthotic Fitter for a rapidly growing company, the individual in this role will blend patient care with design and fabrication of devices. Like other healthcare providers, the Care Extender will work in partnership with other healthcare professionals and become familiar with all aspects of their patients’ rehabilitative care. The primary function of orthotic and prosthetic rehabilitation is to increase and improve mobility in patients with physical limitations and treat other orthopedic conditions of the spine and limbs with mechanical devices to relieve symptoms. The Care extender would assist in building and providing orthotic and prosthetic devices to address their patients’ needs under the supervision of a Certified Orthotist and/or Certified Prosthetist.

A successful Orthotic Fitter will require the ability to shift gears quickly and often, assisting in all aspects of patient care from participating in patient evaluations, implementation/follow up of the treatment plan, adjustment of devices and the fitting of Off-the-Shelf devices. This role will require working in a team environment and assisting the Orthotist and, at times, having the ability to make decisions after proper training. This individual cares about providing the highest quality patient care and wants to be a part of a life-changing industry. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are critical. The ability to multi-task and re-prioritize regularly, as well as a keen attention to detail, are also essential; along with self-motivation and the ability to operate with a high level of discretion.

Responsibilities:

  • Assistance in the guided evaluation of orthoses on patients to ensure fit, function, and quality
  • Fitting, repairing and maintaining orthoses under guidance of and in consultation with the Orthotist
  • Make assigned casts, obtain measurements, model modifications, and scanning
