Job summary

Elliot Health System in Stratham, NH, seeks Medical Assistants (MA I/II) to support providers with examinations, testing, and patient care across multiple sites including Stratham, Hooksett, and Manchester.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED required for MA positions.
  • Graduate from an accredited MA Program or complete externship program.
  • 1 year of relevant healthcare experience with formal training is required or preferred.
  • 1 year prior experience as a Medical Assistant is expected.
  • For MA II, at least 3 years' experience as a Medical Assistant is required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare visit charts with diagnostic results and reports for provider review.
  • Room patients for visits, recording vitals and relevant history.
  • Accurately document age- or condition-specific measurements.
  • Conduct hearing, vision, respiratory and ECG testing.
  • Perform screenings such as depression and asthma per need.
  • Collect and process specimens following procedures.
  • Perform and document point-of-care testing.
  • Conduct venipuncture as needed and process specimens.
  • Administer medications and immunizations as appropriate.
  • Refill medications per guidelines via telephonic, electronic, or print methods.
  • Handle prior authorization processes for medications/procedures.
  • Manage clinical supplies and maintain par levels.

Education

Graduate from an accredited MA Program
Graduate from an MA Training Program with externship
1 year of relevant healthcare experience with formal training (LNA, EMT, Combat Medic)
1 year prior experience as a Medical Assistant
At least 3 years' experience as a Medical Assistant

Job description

*Primary Location is Stratham but expect to train/cover for low census Hooksett and Manchester Locations*

Position Summary

Assists providers in the administration of patient care in assigned clinical areas. Assists with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatment, and dressing changes. Performs general administrative duties in accordance with JCAHO, CLIA, NCQA and government standards, as well as company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs visit chart preparation activities based on the daily scheduled appointments including diagnostic test results, emergency/urgent care reports, discharge summaries and consult/PCP reports are located in the medical record and accessible to the provider.
  • Performs rooming activities for provider visits according to the documented rooming criteria including chief complaint, allergies, vital signs, medication list review, tobacco history, LMP, health maintenance overrides and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Obtains and documents age and/or condition-specific measurements accurately including vital signs, height, weight, head circumference, peak flow, and pulse oximetry.
  • Conducts and documents hearing, vision, respiratory and ECG testing.
  • Performs and documents specific screening based on condition/need including depression and asthma.
  • Obtains, documents and processes specimens using the appropriate collection process and equipment.
  • Performs and documents point of care testing accurately.
  • Performs venipuncture procedures (as needed) and processes specimens as outlined in policies and procedures.
  • Administers medications and immunizations including oral, nasal, injectable, rectal and topical routes as appropriate.
  • Processes medication prescription refills per guidelines using telephonic, electronic or print methods.
  • Handles prior authorization processes for medications and/or procedures and documents appropriately.
  • Manages clinical supplies and medication sample areas to ensure that stock is current, stored appropriately, labeled and par levels maintained.
Education/Experience/Licensure
MA I

Education: HS Diploma or GED required and One of the following:

  • Graduate from an accredited MA Program.
  • Graduate from an MA Training Program with externship.
  • 1 year of relevant healthcare experience with formal training (LNA, EMT, Combat Medic).
  • 1 year prior experience as a Medical Assistant.

Experience: 1 year of relevant healthcare exp. (can include externship), 1 -2 years exp. in a clinical ambulatory care setting preferred.

Certification/Licensure: Must possess BLS authorization upon 90 days of employment and maintain during employment. CMA, RMA or CCMA preferred.

MA II

Education: HS Diploma or GED required and One of the following:

  • Graduate from an accredited MA Program.
  • Graduate from an MA Training Program with externship.
  • At least 3 years' experience as a Medical Assistant.

Experience: At least 3 years' experience as a Medical Assistant.

Certification/Licensure: CMA, RMA or CCMA required. Must possess BLS authorization upon 90 days of employment and maintain during employment
