Job summary

Compass Oncology in Vancouver, WA is seeking a Medical Assistant for full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday. The role supports physicians and clinicians, promoting efficient patient flow and care in a clinical setting.

The starting hourly salary ranges from $21.09 to $35.65 and final offers depend on experience and internal equity. Under supervision, you will perform exams, collect patient data, and perform administrative duties while maintaining compliance with the US Oncology Network and

Qualifications

  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • 1–3 years of Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant experience preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients to/from exam rooms and offices.
  • Records patient data prior to visits (vital signs, height, weight, allergies, meds).
  • Obtains necessary patient records prior to treatment.
  • Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies.
  • Assists physicians with exams and procedures.
  • Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections.
  • Maintains exam room disinfection protocols.
  • Processes instruments and equipment.
  • Answers patient calls for referrals to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
  • Phoned prescriptions and other patient calls as directed by physicians.
  • Schedules tests, procedures, admissions, and follow‑ups.
  • Obtains new patient records and previous test results.
  • Demonstrates reliability and punctuality.
  • Performs other clerical duties as requested.

Salary Range

$21.09‑$35.65 Per Hour. Final offer amounts are determined by a review of the candidate’s applicable experience and qualifications, as well as internal employee equity considerations.

Job Scope

Under direct supervision, assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. Promotes efficient patient flow and patient care (i.e., exams, and procedures). Performs clinic support tasks including miscellaneous clerical tasks, answering phones, and maintaining physicians’ schedule. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities
  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.
  • Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtains all necessary patient records as required by the physician prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.
  • Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, including hormones and biological growth factors.
  • Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Processes instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
  • Phoned prescriptions and makes other patient calls as required or directed by physicians.
  • Schedules patient tests, procedures and hospital admissions and schedules appointments to follow‑up on test results, as applicable.
  • Obtains new patient records and previous test results, x‑rays, scans, etc.
  • Demonstrates reliability and punctuality by consistently showing up on time and maintaining dependable attendance to support team operations and organizational goals.
  • Performs other administrative duties, such as typing, filing, faxing, reception, etc., as requested by supervisor or physician.
Education

High school graduate or equivalent.

Qualifications
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants required.
  • Current CPR certification required.
Experience & Training
  • Minimum (1‑3) years of experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant, preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Work will involve in‑person interaction with co‑workers and management and/or clients. Work may require minimal travel by automobile to office sites.
