Job summary

Trinity Health Of New England Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant to join outpatient Oncology offices in Hartford Market. The role supports patients and providers in a fast-paced specialty practice, rooming patients, taking vital signs, assisting with procedures, collecting specimens, and ensuring accurate EHR documentation.

• Minimum six months of related work experience is required.
• Associate’s Degree in Medical Assistance preferred; National Certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepares exam and treatment rooms.
• Prepares patients for examination and treatment.
• Ensures patient is given appropriate clothing in preparation for the expected physical exam or minor surgeries.
• Obtains pertinent history and documents in the medical record, including chief complaint, medical and surgical history, allergies, medications, and review of systems, and takes/document patient vital signs.
• In treatment rooms, serves as a scribe between patient and physician, documenting all relevant information.
• Processes and files lab/diagnostic test results, correspondence, clinical notes after physician review.
• Ensures accurate and complete documentation and notifies providers of diagnostic results.
• Coordinates patient flow in the office.
• Collaborates with receptionist to ensure timely patient experiences and supports front office tasks.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Associate’s Degree in Medical Assistance (preferred)

National Certification as Medical Assistant (a plus)

The Medical Assistant will support patients and providers in a fast-paced specialty practice. Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vital signs, assisting with procedures, collecting specimens, and ensuring accurate documentation in the electronic health record. Prepares exam rooms and helps maintain a smooth patient flow throughout the day. Ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, compassionate, and thrives in a collaborative clinical environment.

What you will do:

• Prepares exam and treatment rooms.
• Prepares patients for examination and treatment.
• Ensures patient is given appropriate clothing in preparation for the expected physical exam or minor surgeries.
• Obtains pertinent history, enters into the medical record including chief complaint, medical and surgical history, allergies, medications, and appropriate review of systems, and takes/documents patient vital signs.
• In treatment rooms, serves as a scribe between patient and physician, documenting all relevant information.
• Processes and files all lab/diagnostic test results, correspondence, clinical notes in patients’ chart after they have been reviewed by the physician.
• Assures accurate and complete documentation on patient records and notifies providers and other departments of diagnostic testing results.
• Coordinates patient flow in the office.
• Collaborates with receptionist to make certain that patients are seen in a timely and efficient manner.
• Assists front office personnel by answering the telephone, scheduling patient appointments, and other tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of six (6) months of related work experience is required
• Knowledge of medical assisting normally associated with obtaining an Associate’s Degree in Medical Assistance is preferred,
• National Certification as a Medical Assistant a plus
