Job summary

BHMG Oncology Corbin, KY is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care in an outpatient clinic. You will obtain vital signs, reconcile medications, collect patient history and facilitate patient flow.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1+ year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office or clinic.
• Direct hands-on patient care experience (vital signs, patient history, medications).
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program with hands-on patient exposure.
• All MA hires will undergo clinical competency assessment and MA orientation.
• Basic computer skills; EMR experience a plus.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA within 90 days of hire.
• BAT and DOT certifications required within 90 days for Occupational Medicine MA.

Bonus Available Sign-on bonus is reserved for new hires meeting eligibility criteria.

The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow. Additional duties involve managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures. Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the role may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers.

This role requires regular on-site presence to perform the essential job functions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
• 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required
• Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines)
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required
• Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.

• Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications for a Certified Medical Assistant

• Graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure
