Job summary

BHMG OBGYN in Kentucky is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and aiding patient flow.

You will manage EPIC EMR, schedule appointments, process medication requests, handle prior authorizations, and coordinate tests and procedures. After completing clinical competency, duties may include EKGs, lab tests, injections, and phlebotomy.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduates of MA training with hands-on patient care experience preferred.
  • Current CMA/CCMA or other MA certification highly desirable.
  • Experience with EPIC EMR is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Take vital signs and document patient history and medications.
  • Provide direct, hands-on patient care and clinical procedures.
  • Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, injections or vaccines when required.
  • Manage EPIC EMR, appointment scheduling and prior authorizations.
  • Coordinate tests, procedures and lab work for patients.
  • Support providers with clinical and administrative tasks.

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow.

Additional duties involve managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures. Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the role may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy.

Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers. This role requires regular on‑site presence to perform the essential job functions.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
  • 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required. Experience must include direct, hands on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG's, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).
  • Or Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required.

Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.

Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.

Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.

BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications for a Certified Medical Assistant:
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP.
  • Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.

Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.

Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.
