Job summary

NextCare Urgent Care is seeking a radiology/back-office clinician to provide patient care in a fast-paced setting. You will perform radiology duties, assist with exams, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and accreditation standards.

The role requires a radiology certificate or license and a high school diploma, with training in laboratory and LIS systems. You may work across clinics and participate in ongoing education and policy adherence.

Qualifications

• High school graduate.
• Graduate from an accredited radiology program and/or equivalent experience and current state certification or national radiology license.

Responsibilities

• Perform radiology duties within scope of practice as per NextCare policies and state regulations.
• Back-office clinical duties as defined by Skills Competency Checklists.
• Ensure compliance with policies, QA programs, safety, and infection control standards.
• Observe patient condition changes and communicate to the on-duty provider.
• Assist provider with exams and procedures under supervision.
• Complete daily checklist and other duties to meet regulatory requirements.
• Dispense prescriptions and medications per policy.
• Maintain accreditation and testing policies and documentation.
• Treat patients and staff per NextCare mission and values.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Summary

Provides patient care services in the back office setting, which will meet the specific needs of the patient.

Essential Functions

• Performs radiology duties within the scope of practice as stated in NextCare Policies and Procedures, as well as the state appropriate Radiation Rules and Regulations.
• Performs the essential functions, including back office clinical duties, as defined by the appropriate Skills Competency Checklists.
• Compliance with established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
• Observes and communicates changes in the patient's condition to the provider on duty.
• Assists provider with exams, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care under direct supervision.
• Participates in the completion of the Daily Checklist, as well as any assigned duties and tasks necessary to maintain compliance with Federal and State regulations.
• Participates in education programs and attends meetings as required.
• Follows and complies with standing orders.
• Dispenses prescriptions and medications per policy.
• Follows guidelines and requirements of laboratory and clinical accreditation policies.
• Treats patients and co-workers consistent with the NextCare Mission Statement, Vision, Values and Performance Standards.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or described by Company policy.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Analytical Testing: Perform moderate-complexity clinical testing across authorized disciplines (e.g., Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis) in strict accordance with the laboratory's COLA-approved SOP manual.
• Quality Control & Calibration: Execute and document daily instrument calibrations, quality control (QC) tracking, and corrective actions for out-of-range values prior to reporting patient results.
• COLA Inspection Readiness: Maintain orderly, verifiable, and audit-ready logs for all pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical activities to ensure seamless biennial COLA on-site surveys.
• Competency & Training: Participate in mandatory, documented competency assessments (semiannually in the first year of employment, and annually thereafter) covering all six CLIA-mandated elements.
• Proficiency Testing (PT): Successfully test and document blind proficiency testing samples exactly like patient specimens, adhering to strict anti-commingling regulations.
• Specimen & EMR Processing: Accession, process, centrifuge, and evaluate sample integrity, reporting data accurately into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Critical Value Notification: Promptly recognize critical, life-threatening results and follow immediate notification protocols to the attending Texas healthcare provider.

Education

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• high school graduate, and
• graduate from an accredited radiology school and/or equivalent experience and current state certification where required or national radiology license

License: Current State Radiology Certification where required or National Radiology License

Certification: Current healthcare professional level CPR certification issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, American Safety Health Institute or National Safety Council

Valued But Not Required Skills And Experience

Experience: Prior recent experience in an emergency department, urgent care or other clinical setting.
