Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to support Multispecialty suites at the Pembroke location. This onsite role runs Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm, totaling 40 hours per week.

You will work with providers and nursing staff to deliver clinical and administrative support, ensuring patient comfort and efficient flow. The role requires 1–2 years of MA experience, a High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate’s preferred), and BLS/ CMA credentials where applicable.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in medical assisting preferred.
  • 1–2 years direct Medical Assistant experience required.
  • BLS Certification preferred or required.
  • CMA certification preferred where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Take vital signs and document patient information.
  • Interview patients to obtain medical history and measurements.
  • Prepare examination rooms and equipment for providers.
  • Explain procedures and instructions to patients; provide educational materials.
  • Collect blood and other specimens; perform phlebotomy if competent.
  • Maintain immunization inventory and administer vaccines as applicable.
  • Support quality initiatives and improve patient identifiers and hand hygiene.

Job Summary Brigham and Women's Health Care Center in Pembroke is a multi-level facility spanning 30,000 square feet. Located at 15 Corporate Park Drive, the center includes family medicine (all ages), obstetrics and gynecology, cardiology, endocrinology, general surgery, gastroenterology, orthopedics as well as pulmonary. We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to support the Multispecialty suites onsite Monday through Friday, from 8:30am to 5:00pm. During staffing shortages or cross coverage purposes, there could be times to work in another specialty suite at this location. As true partners to our providers, our Medical Assistants get the opportunity to work autonomously to the top of their education/certification while also functioning as part of the care team. The ideal candidate profile is an experienced, adaptable Medical Assistant who is confident in their clinical abilities and genuinely enjoys variety. We ideally aim to have our clinical support staff members working 1:1 or 1:2 with assigned providers, but they do cross-cover, rotate, and collaborate with other providers as needed. Summary The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care. Essential Functions
  • Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training.
  • Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.
  • Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
  • Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
  • Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.
  • Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.
  • Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
