ACCESS is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team in Dearborn, MI. The role supports physicians by taking vital signs, collecting specimens, and assisting examinations and treatments. Bilingual Arabic preferred; standard clinical duties and patient education are included.
The position is Full-time with normal business hours and requires proficiency in MS Office and medical equipment. Prior clinical experience and HIPAA/OSHA familiarity are valued assets.
Medical Assistant

Under general supervision the Medical Assistant is responsible for taking and recording patient vital signs collecting specimens preparing patients for examinations treatments and otherwise assisting the physician in examinations and treatments
Perform initial response screening following protocols approved by supervising physicianObtain information from patient to complete appropriate paperwork to update patient historyDetermine and document reason for the visit; utilize critical thinking skills within the scope of the role to assess if patient information requires higher level follow upObtain patient vital signs and accurately documents information in patient file; this includes but is not limited to the following vital signs such as pulse rate temperature blood pressure height and weight; calculates and documents BMIPerform diagnostic tests as directed by physician nurse practitioner or physician assistantAdminister prescribed medications and assist in office procedures as directed by physician nurse practitioner or physician assistantFacilitate prescription renewals as directed by ordering provider according to ACCESS protocolsTrack and inform patient of laboratorydiagnostic test results as directed by provider and according to ACCESSoffice protocolsCommunicate with patient regarding provider instructions based on test results receivedPerform general specimen collection duties including blood urine throat swabs etc or other office procedures as required; during the performance of these duties adheres to all access specified policies procedures and safety precautionsProvide patientfamily education as directed by physician nurse practitioner or physician assistantAssist with lifting and transferring of patients and medical equipment when requiredMay operate equipment to administer routine diagnostic testsOperate standard office equipment and use required software applicationsPerform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Degree RequiredHigh school diploma or GED equivalentand At least 1 year previous clinical experience preferred or equivalent combination of education experience andor training approved by Human Resources
