Job summary

Hartford HealthCare Medical Group in Manchester, CT is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clinical and clerical support across Urology offices. The MA will conduct high-level disinfection, instrument processing, room turnover and cross-train in patient workflows.

You’ll travel between Hartford Region Urology locations as needed and participate in our MA career ladder with tuition reimbursement and comprehensive benefits to support you and your family.

Qualifications

• Diploma or active CT CNA/EMT/Paramedic certification as listed.
• Certified BLS Provider credentialed by AHA within 3 months.
• All required credentials maintained throughout employment.
• At least 1 year direct patient care experience; MA externship preferred.
• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-level disinfection of cystoscopes and reusable equipment.
• Operate autoclave sterilization and document reprocessing.
• Set up and turnover of procedure rooms.
• Maintain procedural supplies and equipment.
• Travel between Hartford Region Urology locations as needed.
• Ensure infection prevention standards compliance.
• Cross-train in patient rooming and clinical workflows.
• Provide MA coverage as operational needs require.
• Receive on-the-job training and competency sign-off.
• Record vitals, allergies, screenings and health history.
• Conduct point of care testing with QC and documentation.
• Assist providers with in-house Urology procedures.
• Administrative support: scheduling, chart prep, referrals, authorizations.

Job Summary

Provides basic clinical, clerical and resource support in the delivery of patient care within the Medical Assistant (MA) scope of education. The MA experiences continued training of all aspects of the MA role.

The MA covers multiple Urology offices in the Hartford region, bringing variety to your workday and the chance to collaborate across multiple teams and communities. Reliable transportation needed.

Clinical/Administrative Duties Included But Not Limited To

• Perform high-level disinfection (HLD) of cystoscopes and reusable equipment.
• Operate and monitor autoclave sterilization processes.
• Complete required reprocessing and sterilization documentation.
• Set up and turn over procedure rooms.
• Maintain procedural supplies and equipment.
• Travel between Hartford Region Urology locations as needed for coverage.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention standards.
• Cross-train in patient rooming and clinical workflows.
• Provide MA coverage as operational needs require.
• Receive on-the-job training and competency sign-off for all procedural and reprocessing responsibilities.
• Vitals, allergy/medical reconciliation, screenings, placing event monitors, patient history, health maintenance, advance directives and virtual health.
• Conducts point of care testing including quality control and documentation.
• Assists providers with in-house Urology procedures, as needed
• Provides administrative support including but not limited to scheduling, chart prep, referrals, check in/out, prior authorizations and transportation facilitation.

Qualifications

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic or Medic Certification OR relative experience as outlined below.
• Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
• All required credentials to be maintained throughout employment.

Experience

• In lieu of education requirement, at least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered.
• Relevant experience or MA externship in a busy medical office preferred.
• EPIC EMR experience preferred.
