Job summary

ConvenientMD is hiring a Medical Assistant to join our New England clinics. You will support clinicians, engage with patients, and help ensure smooth daily operations in a fast-paced urgent care environment.

Responsibilities include triage, taking vital signs, recording histories, assisting with procedures, medication guidance, and maintaining HIPAA-compliant EHRs. We value compassionate, proactive team players who communicate effectively.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Medical Assistant certification with at least 1 year of experience or 2 years of MA experience.
  • BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required; CPR/ACLS online not accepted.
  • Compassionate, patient-focused, and privacy-conscious.
  • Proactive, confident communicator with colleagues and patients.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with patients, addressing inquiries and providing information on conditions, treatment plans, and medications.
  • Explain medications, dosages, adverse reactions, and lifestyle guidance.
  • Support clinical operations; triage patients and perform basic procedures; document in EHRs.
  • Administer medications under supervision per state guidelines (NH & ME only).
  • Collaborate with the clinical team and assist with discharge planning.

The Opportunity

As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care, assisting healthcare providers, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Your Impact
  • Patient Interaction: Engage with patients in a welcoming and professional manner, addressing inquiries and providing assistance and information regarding their medical conditions, treatment plans, and medications.
    • Explain prescribed medications, including dosage instructions and potential adverse reactions.
    • Offer guidance on lifestyle modifications, preventive healthcare measures, and follow-up care.
    • Address patient questions and concerns to ensure they have a clear understanding of their health status and treatment options.
  • Clinical Responsibilities: Support clinical operations and patient care.
    • Conduct preliminary evaluations to triage patients and determine the urgency of their medical needs.
    • Perform basic clinical procedures such as taking vital signs, obtaining medical histories, phlebotomy, and assisting with minor medical procedures.
    • Document patient information accurately, maintaining electronic health records (EHRs) in compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Medication Administration (prescription meds – NH & ME only): Administer medications under the supervision and direction of licensed healthcare providers, adhering to state regulations and guidelines for medication administration.
    • Ensure accurate medication preparation and administration techniques.
    • Understand medication dosages, routes of administration, and potential side effects.
  • Collaboration with Clinical Team: Work closely with other members of the clinical team to ensure seamless coordination of patient care.
    • Communicate effectively and efficiently with providers and other healthcare professionals to relay patient information and updates.
    • Collaborate with providers on discharge plans and may help with discharge.
    • Welcome and support the training of new team clinic team members.
Required Availability
  • Must be able to work12-hour shifts in consecutive and or non-consecutive days:
    • For full-time: Must be able to work three (3) 12-hour shifts a week with at leastfour (4)shifts a month on a Saturday or Sunday.
    • For part-time: Must be able to worktwo(2) 12-hour shifts per week with at least two (2) shifts a month on a Saturday or Sunday.
    • For per diem: Must be able to workfour(4)12-hour shiftsper month, ideally working one (1) shift each week.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends,holidays.
  • If needed, mustbe able to work at a minimum of three (3) otherConvenientMDlocations within a one (1) hour travel distance from your primary clinic.
  • Required to travel for training shifts which may occur outside of your primary clinic within a one (1) hour commute.

Who You Are

  • Education: High schooldiplomaor GED required.
  • Certification or demonstrated prior experience: Medical Assistant certification with at least one (1) year of experience or two (2) years of experience working as a Medical Assistant.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification. We do not accept CPR, ACLS certifications, or online only classes.

Individual pay is determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to location, years of relevant experience, current market conditions, and budget considerations . The pay range listed reflects the potential compensation for this role within this region. Final compensation is determined at the conclusion of the interview process.
