In this role, you’ll work directly with patients, assist with clinical procedures, support care coordination, and help create a positive healthcare experience every day.

What You’ll Do
  • Welcome and prepare patients for appointments.
  • Collect and document patient histories, vital signs, and health information.
  • Assist providers with exams, procedures, testing, and specimen collection.
  • Administer medications and perform diagnostic testing as directed.
  • Communicate test results and provider instructions to patients.
  • Provide patient and family education to support better health outcomes.
  • Coordinate care and serve as a liaison between patients and providers.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and disease management programs.
General Requirements

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. Successful completion of accredited/approved:

  • MA program and MA Externship;
  • MA Internship;
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program;
  • Paramedic program; or
  • Certified Athletic Trainer.

If credentialed, maintains current MA Re-Certification CEUs.

CREDENTIALS/LICENSURE

MA-Non-Credentialed I: MA eligible to attain Medical Assistant Certification is desired, or EMT with current/active license in the State of Michigan, or Paramedic following successful completion of the National Registry Paramedic Exam and/or holds a current/active license in the State of Michigan. Valid CPR certification.

MA-Credentialed I: Certification as a Medical Assistant through one of the following certifying agencies:

  • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
  • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
  • National Healthcareer Association (CCMA)
  • National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)
  • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
Minimum Experience

0-1 year previous clinical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. In absence of completed MA Program/Externship/Internship, must have 2+ years’ clinical experience providing clinical support in community-based clinic and be subject to standardized testing and evaluation of clinical skills.
