Job summary

Aurora Medical Group (AMG) Sheboygan Nurses and MAs Float Pool is a full-time role (36 hours/week) supporting the care team across AMG Sheboygan locations. Clinic hours are 0745-1715, Monday–Friday, with one day off per week.

The float pool covers multiple Sheboygan County AMG clinics and emphasizes compassionate patient care and collaboration. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Medical Assistant (MA) credentials are required, including CPR/BLS within 45 days.

Qualifications

  • LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse license issued by the state where the team member practices, and MA: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers issued by the American Heart Association must be obtained within 45 days unless leadership determines it is not required.
  • GED or HS Equivalency Diploma.
  • MA: Completion of an accredited program in Medical Assistant, or 2 years verifiable full-time MA experience in the last 5 years.

  • Welcome patients and support their transition into care.
  • Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.

Float pool teammates assist all Sheboygan County Aurora Clinics including Sheboygan Main Clinic, Sheboygan South Side Clinic, Sheboygan Falls, Howard's Grove, Plymouth, Cedar Grove, Kiel, Random Lake and the Medical Office Building in Sheboygan. Including primary care and specialty departments.

Job Description Summary

Support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks that are vital to patient care. Medical Assistants and Licensed Practical Nurses must adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. They are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion during all interactions.

Licensure or Certifications

What You’ll Do

As a Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse, you’ll play a vital role in the care team – supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day.

As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will:

  • Welcome patients and support their transition into care.
  • Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.
  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed.
  • Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.
  • Document care accurately in the electronic health record.
  • Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.

Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.

Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.

Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.

Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.

Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.

May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.

Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.

Physical Abilities Testing may be required.

Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.
