Job summary

Aurora Medical Group (AMG) is part of Advocate Health, a large nonprofit health system. The Medical Assistant role is based in Park Ridge in the ambulatory care setting, supporting providers and patients to ensure a caring, efficient experience.

Expect full-time hours (Mon-Fri 8am-5pm) with occasional Saturday and evening rotations. Candidates should have MA credentials or relevant experience; phlebotomy skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have a medical assistant diploma or 2 years of medical assistant experience or be a certified MA with 2 years of medical assistant experience, to qualify.
• Phlebotomy skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule: Full-time 40 hours a week. Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM.
• As a Medical Assistant, you'll play a vital role in the care team - supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day.
• As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will:
• Welcome patients and support their transition into care.
• Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.
• Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.
• Administer medications and vaccines as directed.
• Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.
• Document care accurately in the electronic health record.
• Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twistfrequentlythroughout the workday.
• Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
• Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
• Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch withabilityto use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
• Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
• Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.
• May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must bewornas necessary.
• Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
• Physical Abilities Testing may berequired.
• Additionaldepartment specific physical requirements may beidentifiedfor unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.
