Job summary

Hillcrest HealthCare System is seeking a Day Shift, full-time Medical Assistant for an Internal Medicine clinic in Tulsa, OK. The role supports providers with patient care and administrative tasks in a clinic setting, working as part of a care team led by physicians.

The ideal candidate will have EMR proficiency, MS Office knowledge, and BLS certification within 14 days of hire. A CMA or RMA certification is preferred; high school diploma required and associate degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have EMR familiarity and basic Microsoft Office knowledge.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Enters, maintains, and reports all medical history, medical coding, and files claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Greeting patients, escorting patients to exam rooms and/or taking vital signs as part of the care team.
• Sterilizes and prepares medical instruments; ensures exam rooms are disinfected and ready for patients; maintains privacy and hygiene.
• Assists in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies for all exam rooms.
• Addresses referrals and insurance authorizations; coordinates with pharmacies, labs, and hospitals as needed.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a Medical Assistant:

The Medical Assistant provides superior patient care and performs administrative and delegated clinical tasks that support patients in a clinic-based environment as part of a care team led by the physician and/or advanced practice provider.

• Enters, maintains, and reports all medical history, medical coding, and files claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Patients visit support that may include Greeting patients, and escorting patient to exam room and/or taking patients’ vital signs, and other applicable medical information to effectively support the reason for the patients visit and recommended treatment.
• Sterilizes and prepares medical instruments. Ensures patient exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients. Provides patients with privacy, comfort, safety and hygiene.
• Assists in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments and equipment for all exam rooms.
• Maintains appropriate paperwork for inventory control and reviews orders received for completeness.
• Addresses and requests referrals and other insurance authorizations in addition to passing along patient information for prescription, x-ray or lab requisitions to necessary parties. This includes calls to pharmacies, hospitals, and labs.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft Office knowledge.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Associate’s degree.
• Graduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program or two years of MA experience.
• Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
