Job summary

Advocate Health, through Aurora Medical Group, seeks a Medical Assistant to join the ambulatory care team at Good Hope in Wisconsin. The role supports providers, coordinates patient flow, and ensures a compassionate, efficient patient experience Monday through Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, with occasional travel to other clinics.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and a MA credential or two years of MA experience (or equivalent certification).

Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm, times will vary depending on clinic needs. No weekends, no call, no holidays. Primary location at Good Hope, however some travel to other clinics may be needed.

Pay Range:

$21.85 - $32.80

Support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks that are vital to patient care. Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
• Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
• Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
• Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
• Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
• Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.
• May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
• Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
• Physical Abilities Testing may be required.
• Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills, within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with a variety of patients, team members and physicians.
• Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems.
• Demonstrates customer service skills that support a positive patient experience.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

• Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other team member, when available.
• Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case- by -case basis.
• Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine-hand manipulation skills.
• Will be exposed to the following hazards on a frequent basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood and body fluids. Will be required to wear protective clothing and equipment as needed.
• Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
