Day Kimball Health is hiring a Medical Assistant for our Orthopedic Group in Putnam, CT. The role is a Day Shift with a 40-hour work week, providing initial patient triage, registration, intake, and assisting with direct patient care in an outpatient setting.

The position requires a High School diploma, current CPR, and completion of CMA or CNA programs is preferred. Prior clinical experience and computer skills are assets for coordinating care and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks; checks in patients, obtains histories, takes vitals, prepares charts, and assists with exams.
• Accurately transcribes physicians' orders and completes forms, requisitions, and communications to implement orders.
• Schedules and monitors patient appointments; coordinates routine office activities and administrative functions.
• Performs routine specialized procedures, including sterile dressing changes under established protocols.

Medical Assistant Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Office Supervisor in an outpatient clinical setting, provides initial patient triage, registration, patient intake services, assist with direct patient care, and performs specialized medical procedures of a routine nature, as dictated by established clinical protocol.

Performs the clerical duties and facilitates the smooth functioning of the patient care flow.

Medical Assistant Key Responsibilities

• Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks; checks in patients, assists in obtaining patient histories, takes vital signs, prepares charts, and assists with medical examinations.
• Accurately transcribes physicians' orders, completes all necessary forms, requisitions, and communications required to implement orders.
• Schedules and monitors patient appointments; may coordinate routine office activities and administrative functions in support of unit activities.
• Performs routine specialized procedures, which could include sterile dressing changes under established protocols.

Medical Assistant Required Skills and Qualifications

Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Current CPR training required.
• Successful completion of CMA or CNA Program preferred.
• Completion of a Medical Terminology course preferred.

Experience:

• One to three years’ experience in clinical position preferred.
• Prior computer experience required.
• One to three years’ experience as a nursing or medical assistant or in a related field preferred.
