Overview

The Medical Assistant (Uptown location) plays a vital role in healthcare settings, assisting healthcare providers in various clinical and administrative tasks. They may perform duties such as measuring vital signs, assisting with medical procedures, documenting patient information, providing patient education, handling administrative tasks like scheduling appointments and managing medical records, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with regulations, and engaging in continuous learning to stay updated with medical advancements. MAs contribute to the delivery of quality healthcare and support the well-being of patients in diverse healthcare environments.

Location

This position will be working from our Uptown medical office location, at6023 Harvard Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15206.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to multitask and be flexible with workload.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with community members, staff, and shareholders of all levels.
  • Bilingual preferred.
Key Responsibilities
  • Measuring and recording vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, respiratory rate).
  • Assisting with patient examinations and procedures.
  • Performing basic medical procedures under supervision, such as administering injections, drawing blood, and assisting with minor surgical procedures.
  • Providing basic wound care and applying dressings.
  • Recording patient information, medical histories, and vital signs accurately in electronic health records (EHR) or medical charts.
  • Ensuring all documentation is complete and up-to-date.
  • Explaining procedures, medications, and follow-up instructions to patients.
  • Answering patient questions and addressing concerns regarding their healthcare.

All other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.

Physical Demands

Work is performed in a fast-paced office and community setting, requiring local travel. Physical demands include prolonged sitting/standing and phone use. Lifting and carrying PR equipment and supplies (5-10 lbs.) may be required.
