Job summary

Amarillo Diagnostic Clinic is seeking a daytime, full-time Medical Assistant in Amarillo, TX. You will support patient visits, document medical history, process claims in the EMR, and help with office duties to keep patient flow smooth.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma or GED, basic EMR and Microsoft Office skills, and BLS certification within 14 days of hire. CMA or RMA credentials and clinic experience are a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic EMR and Microsoft Office knowledge.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire.
  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • Graduate from an accredited medical assistant program preferred.
  • Current CMA or RMA certification preferred.
  • Experience in a clinic or hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Enter, maintain, and report all medical history, medical coding, and file claims using an EMR.
  • Support patient visits by greeting patients, escorting to exam rooms, taking vital signs, and collecting information for treatment.
  • Sterilize and prepare medical instruments; ensure exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and comfortable for patients.
  • Maintain inventory and stock supplies, instruments, and equipment for exam rooms.
  • Process paperwork for inventory control and review orders for completeness.
  • Inquire about referrals and insurance authorizations; relay patient information for prescriptions, x-ray or lab requests to pharmacies, hospitals, and labs.

Responsibilities
  • Enter, maintain, and report all medical history, medical coding, and file claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Patient visit support that may include: Greeting patients, escorting patients to exam rooms, taking patients' vital signs, and other applicable medical information to effectively support the reason for the patients visit and recommended treatment.
  • Sterilizes and prepares medical instruments. Ensures patient exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients. Provides patients with privacy, comfort, safety and hygiene.
  • Assists in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments and equipment for all exam rooms.
  • Maintains appropriate paperwork for inventory control and reviews orders received for completeness.
  • Addresses and requests referrals and other insurance authorizations in addition to passing along patient information for prescription, x-ray or lab requisitions to necessary parties. This includes calls to pharmacies, hospitals, and labs.
Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft Office knowledge.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
Preferred Job Requirements
  • Associate's degree.
  • Graduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program.
  • Prior experience in a clinic or hospital setting supporting patient care.
  • Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
