Job summary

South Texas Health System Clinics seeks a Medical Assistant LS X-Ray to support patient care under physician supervision. You will perform exams, take vital signs, venipuncture, and assist in preparation and coverage of front desk tasks as needed.

The role includes x-ray responsibilities, documentation in EMR, and ensuring timely patient flow in a busy clinic.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Office Assistant/Specialist program or Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant or Medical Office Specialist, preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology required.
  • Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (according to clinic protocol).

Responsibilities

  • Participates in decision-making and process improvement.
  • Assists with daily clerical operations and phone lines.
  • Accurately files patient charts and scans documents as necessary.
  • Schedules patient appointments, return visits and specialists.
  • Pre-authorizes prescriptions and clinical tests as necessary.
  • X-ray procedures and record-keeping.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Medical Assistant LS X-Ray position is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties which include assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), venipuncture and procedure as directed by the physician within the scope of practice in the State. Documentation is recorded in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with IPM guidelines. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Assists in covering the front desk as required.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Participates in decision-making and process improvement.
  • Assist with daily clerical operations, including answering multi-phone lines and making copies of documents as necessary.
  • Accurately files patient charts; including scanning documents into files as necessary.
  • Schedules patient appointments as necessary, return visits and Specialists.
  • Pre-authorize prescriptions and clinical tests (CT, MRI, Ultrasound, etc.) as necessary.
  • X-Ray Responsibilities: Performs all required x-ray procedures with basic/limited scope reporting, reviewing and maintenance of accurate records and equipment.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
