Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Marymount Hospital in Garfield Heights seeks a Medical Assistant to support the Internal Medicine-Primary Care Institute, serving the Southeast communities since 1949.

This part-time role offers Monday–Friday days, 8:00am–4:30pm. You will assist with screenings, collect specimens, update patient records, and help with registration. BLS certification is required, and externship experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved medical assisting program or equivalent military training.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or Red Cross; must obtain if not current.
• Clinical externship or extensive clinical experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with screenings and treatments: gather/update health information, monitor meds, update allergies, collect specimens, perform tests and document care.
• Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
• Maintain equipment, medical supplies and examination areas.

Marymount Hospital’s Internal Medicine team diagnoses,treatsand cares for adults across the spectrum from health to complex illness. Rather than focusing on one part of the body, such as the heart or bones, this team knows all about the adult body systems. Whether a patient has sudden illness, achronicconditionor several health problems at once, this team ishere to help.

This is a part-time role. A caregiver in this position will work varying shifts/days between Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Assistwith performing screenings and treatments by gathering and updating information related to health maintenance,identifyingmedication changes, updating allergy information, collecting specimens, performingtestsand documenting patient care.

• Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.

• Maintain equipment, medicalsuppliesand examination areas.

• Perform administrative/clerical duties, such as filing, reception, scheduling, dataentryand patient registration.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an approved medical assistingprogramOR military training as a hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1).

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross. If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period.

• Completion of a clinical externship OR extensive clinical experience.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Medical Assisting certification.

• Successful completion of a Cleveland Clinic externship.

Physical Requirements:

• Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
• May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
• Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.
• Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
• Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
• Note: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
