Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Medical Assisting Intern to provide clinical care under physician supervision at a New Jersey practice. You will apply skills learned in school while supporting patients and the care team.

The role requires enrollment in an accredited Medical Assisting program, current CPR certification, and reliable transportation to the assigned practice daily. Duties include patient prep, veins, charting, and basic in-office tasks.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in and completion of classroom portion at an accredited school of Medical Assisting
• Have passed, or are eligible to sit for, a National Certified Medical Assistant certificate
• Possess a current CPR certification
• MUST have reliable transportation to the assigned practice every day as scheduled

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.
• Monitors flow in waiting areas and exam rooms and informs patients and team members of delays.
• Performs medical assistant duties in a safe and efficient manner as directed by physician and CMA protocols.
• Prepares patient for examination and treatment; takes brief patient history; assists physician with procedures; draws blood and collects urine specimens; administers injections as approved; provides patient instructions per physician order; conducts authorized in-office tests.
• Maintains accurate chart documentation and prepares examination rooms and supplies.
• Monitors inventory of clinical supplies and equipment; ensures EMR data entry and medical record management as needed.
