Responsibilities

• Performs and completes clinical and non-clinical duties in the back office.
• Maintains accurate, up-to-date medical records and supports revenue cycle activities.

• Performs CLIA testing instructions; collects specimens and documents results in the EHR.
• Fulfills provider orders within scope of practice and provides discharge instructions.
• Assists in coordinating continuity of patient care with internal health departments.
• Maintains supplies in exam rooms and prepares rooms for patient care.
• Reports safety hazards to supervisory staff promptly.
• Interviews patients to obtain reason for visit and documents vitals and patient intake.
• Uses proper charting and documentation for all patient services.

Description

This position is responsible for providing excellent patient care and experience in accordance with Mountain Park guiding principles, HIPAA, and any other applicable federal & state laws. The Medical Assistant (MA) II position must be able to perform the essential functions of a MA.

Essential Functions

• Performs and completes clinical and non-clinical assigned duties, tasks, responsibilities, and assignments in the back office.
• Applies practice management principles and collaborates with the front office to maintain accurate, up-to-date medical records while ensuring seamless revenue cycle activities.
• Adheres to and follows procedures for immunization and medication administration, including but limited to labeling, storing, and utilization.
• Performs and adheres to all Clinical Laboratory of Improvement Amendments (CLIA) testing instructions; collects specimens, processes and documents results in the electronic health records (EHR).
• Fulfills provider orders within scope of practice and provides patients’ discharge instructions.
• Assists with coordinating the continuity of patient care with internal health departments.
• Maintains proper levels of supplies in exam rooms and prepares exam room for patient care and procedures.
• Identifies and reports any safety hazard, or potential hazard, by directly notifying supervisory staff immediately of concerns.
• Interviews patients to obtain reason for visit, history, and chief complaints; performs vital signs and other patient care needs, documents the same to complete the patient intake process.
• Utilizes and abides by proper charting and documenting procedures for all patient related services, exams, interactions, and assignments performed.
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
• Performs other duties as required.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Graduate of a medical assistant program.
• Current CPR certification

Preferred Qualifications :

• Electronic Health Record experience
• Registered medical assistant (RMA) or certified medical assistant (CMA) credential.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English or Somali/English)
