Job summary

University of Maryland Faculty Physicians is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and nursing staff in patient care, chart management, and efficient patient flow in a busy outpatient setting.

The role requires completing an accredited training program, CPR certification, and MA certification, with 3–5 years of supervised medical experience; candidates should be able to perform delegated clinical tasks and basic clerical duties in compliance with state and departmental guidelines.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of supervised work experience in a medical setting
• CPR certification required
• Medical Assistant certification is required
• Demonstrated venipuncture skill
• Ability to perform medical assisting responsibilities under state and faculty guidelines

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and nursing staff with patient care
• Manage patient charts and patient flow
• Perform delegated medical tasks and clerical duties
• Use electronic medical record systems as documented in SOPs
• Take on additional duties as assigned

Job description

Responsible for assisting physicians and nursing staff with patient care. Responsible for chart management and patient flow. Performs delegated medical tasks and may perform clerical duties. Where the electronic system is in use, this position will utilize the system as documented in the department and/or FPI standard operating procedure and process; and other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
• Graduation from an accredited training program (school)
• 3-5 years of supervised work experience in a medical setting. Exemptions will be vetted by Human Resources Director and Department Director
• Medical Assistant certification (such as NAHP, NCCT, AAMA, NHA, AMT, etc.) is required
• Demonstrated skill in venipuncture
• Ability to perform all medical assisting responsibilities under state and faculty guidelines
• CPR certification required

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate’s geographical location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/ training and other qualifications.
