Job summary

City of Hope seeks a Medical Assistant II to join a dynamic clinical team in Irvine, CA. The role provides essential administrative, clerical, and non-invasive technical support under licensed supervision, ensuring accurate patient records and smooth clinic operations.

Responsibilities include room setup, vitals collection, basic nursing tasks, injections, phlebotomy, specimen handling, and telehealth support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• One year of experience in primary care clinical assisting.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Review and update patient records before appointments.
• Set up exam and treatment rooms with necessary supplies.
• Greet patients, escort to exam rooms, and complete rooming (vital signs, history, meds).
• Assist providers or nurses during examinations or procedures.
• Perform basic nursing tasks and assist with ADLs as needed.
• Administer injections and perform phlebotomy under supervision.
• Collect and handle laboratory specimens per OSHA/CLIA.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and sterile environment for patients and families.
• Assist with administrative duties such as scheduling tests and pre-certifications.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and safety protocols; attend annual CPR/OSHA/CLIA training.
• Support telehealth visits with chart prep, patient contact, and charge reconciliation.
