Job Summary

The MA role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of Nursing Director. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care and flow of the clinic and infusion spaces.

Assists other Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training as needed.

Escorts patients to examination rooms, prepares necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient’s medical record.

May be required to assist in treatment procedures, obtaining teaching material for patients at the discretion of the provider, assisting in coordination of specialty lab draws for genetics or early detection teams, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education, and fitting patients for Cold Caps.

Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, downloading external records and reports, while acting as a liaison with other areas of the clinic, and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.

Participate in departmental quality initiatives, such as requirement of check two patient identifiers and adhering to all hand hygiene and infection control policies.

High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred

Licenses and Credentials

Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred

Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred

Experience

Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years strongly preferred.
