Baptist Health - Central Alabama is seeking a Medical Assistant II to provide quality patient care, assist in education, and communicate patient information to physicians. The role includes scrubbing on surgical procedures and scheduling all surgical and endoscopy cases for practice physicians, under physician supervision.
Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent with medical training or 2+ years of MA experience; CMA/RMA preferred and BLS required.

Medical Assistant should provide quality patient care in a prompt and professional manner; assists in delivery of patient education; responsible for communication of patient information to and from physician; assumes various job tasks as assigned. Responsible for direct, individualized, goal-directed patient care under the supervision of Physician. Responsible for scrubbing on surgical procedures and knowledgeable of the principles of aseptic technique and sterilization. Performs a variety of tasks such as care of instruments, supplies, sutures, needles and basic equipment as well as stocking, cleaning and inventory, etc. This position will be responsible for scheduling all surgical and endoscopy cases for practice physicians.
High School diploma or equivalent required with medical training through a certificate program or at least 2 years experience as a medical assistant in a clinical setting, (Ex: clinical lab, physician's office, Emergency Medical Tech., etc.). Understanding of Medical Terminology required. Experience in one of the following areas is preferred- LPN, Lab, Radiology, Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Physician Office, Scrub Tech.
CMA or RMA preferred, BLS required
Position requires sitting for 10% of the workday and mobility 90% of the workday. There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels. Much exposure to computer work. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to radiation.
