Job summary

Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, part of the Optum family, seeks Medical Assistant at levels I–III to support patient care under licensed supervision across Houston-area sites.

As you progress, you administer injections and perform advanced tasks, contribute to safety and comfort, and mentor junior staff while earning hourly pay between $16.00 and $32.00 with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program OR 1+ years related experience without certification.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• Demonstrated knowledge of basic medical/nursing terminology.
• Demonstrated computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Provide supportive patient care functions under supervision.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort per standards.
• Perform delegated tasks as directed by a physician or RN.
• Administer injectables and perform advanced clinical tasks (MA II).

We are seeking qualified candidates for the role of Medical Assistant at varying levels (I, II, III). The selected candidate will be placed at the appropriate level based on qualifications and experience. All levels contribute to patient care under the supervision of licensed medical professionals, with increasing responsibilities at higher levels.

Primary Responsibilities:

Medical Assistant I:

• Provide supportive patient care functions under supervision
• Ensure patient safety and comfort in accordance with legal and professional standards
• Perform delegated tasks as directed by a physician or RN

Medical Assistant II:

• Includes all duties of MA I
• Administer injectables and perform advanced clinical tasks
• Requires additional experience and/or certification

Medical Assistant III:

• Includes all duties of MA I and II
• Perform high-level clinical procedures
• Serve as a resource for less experienced staff

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program OR 1+ years of directly related experience without certification

Preferred Qualifications:

For MA II:

• 5+ years of directly related experience
• Certification/Registration as a Medical Assistant

For MA III:

• 8+ years of directly related experience
• Certification/Registration as a Medical Assistant
• Experience in Ambulatory Care
• EPIC and Windows-based computer systems experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
