Job summary

Mercy Medical Center is hiring a Medical Assistant to support physicians and patients in a busy outpatient setting. The MA I will assist with procedures, take vitals, document histories, and maintain EHR accuracy. On-site training is provided and the role offers a sign-on bonus for eligible hires.

Required at least a High School Diploma with preferred MA or EMT-Paramedic experience. CPR is recommended and you should be able to work well in a team across multiple locations in Maryland.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year of experience as Medical Assistant or EMT-Paramedic preferred.
• CPR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and assist with office procedures and patient flow.
• Take vital signs, document medical histories, and update the EHR.
• Administer injections, collect specimens, and perform basic labs as directed.
• Chaperone providers during exams and maintain exam rooms and supplies.
• Travel to satellite locations as needed.

Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant I demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the ages of patients served by their department. Additionally, the MAI demonstrates competency in applying these principles when providing individualized care to specific patients. Assists the MD/NP/PA in performing procedures. Operates, maintains and calibrates all equipment.

The following duties fall under the responsibility of the Medical Assistant but are not limited to:

• Setting up and assisting with office procedures
• Chaperone providers during patient examination
• Taking pre‑op and post‑op photos of patients
• Maintaining surgical instruments and transporting instruments to Central Sterile (CSS)
• Processing surgical specimens and transporting them to Pathology
• Maintaining and stocking exam rooms
• ordering clinical supplies
• Completing FMLA and Disability forms
• Cleaning and resetting exam rooms
• Travel to satellite locations as needed
• Take patient vital signs, record medical histories, and update electronic health records (EHR).
• Administer injections, blood draws, and immunizations as directed by healthcare providers. (on‑site training provided)
• Perform basic laboratory tests, including specimen collection and processing.
• Provide patient education and instructions as directed by healthcare providers.

Education and Work Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• A minimum of one year experience is preferred as a Medical Assistant or EMT-Paramedic

• Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

Min USD $17.83/Hr.

Max USD $26.75/Hr.
