Job summary

Mercy Medical Center Redding is seeking a Medical Assistant to keep the day running smoothly for patients and the clinical team. You will lead in preparing patient charts and gathering up-to-date information for those seen in our facility.

Your success comes from enthusiasm to help others, efficiency, and empathy for our patients while performing essential room preparation, data entry, and direct patient care under supervision.

Qualifications

• One year experience in an outpatient medical office or physician clinic setting.
• Basic Life Support - CPR

Responsibilities

• Assists in the delivery of direct patient care under the oversight of a Registered Nurse and/or licensed medical practitioner and receives written and/or oral assignments and direction.
• Obtains labs or procedure results, if not in chart, vital signs, chief complaint, reason for visit, allergies, current phone number and family list
• Documents patient care activities and patient data accurately using appropriate documentation forms and/or information systems
• Ensures exam rooms are clean which includes cleaning surgical equipment, preparing for delivery to central supply and disinfecting all patient contact equipment
• Performs required skills such as, but not limited to, vital sign measurement, aseptic technique, non-invasive specimen collection, spirometry, hearing testing, vision testing and EKGs, etc
• Observes patients carefully for significant changes and alerts RN and/or Practitioner immediately as appropriate

Every day, you will take the lead on proactively preparing patient charts, ensuring all information is obtained and up-to-date for those seen in our facility. You can expect to have multiple patients daily depending on the number of physicians are on-site.
