Job summary

UK King’s Daughters is seeking an on-site Medical Assistant I for our Portsmouth, OH facility. The role supports an ambulatory care team with vital signs, phlebotomy, basic patient care, and coordination of referrals and tests.

You will assist with examinations, document care, and communicate changes to the nursing staff. The ideal candidate has a High School diploma and 0-2 years in healthcare, plus relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required with vocational/technical training preferred.
• 0-2 years of healthcare/clinical experience desired.
• LPN license + BLS + CPI certifications may be required depending on area.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for visits by taking vitals and health histories.
• Collect specimens and perform basic in-clinic lab tasks as needed.
• Provide basic patient care and follow prescribed interventions.
• Administer medications safely under supervision and monitor reactions.

Performs trained clinical tasks such as starting IVs, providing wound care, and monitoring patient conditions. Communicates changes or abnormalities to registered nurses or licensed independent practitioners. Ensures patient satisfaction and contributes to a safe, patient-centered care environment.
