Hospital for Special Surgery located in Uniondale, NY is seeking a Medical Assistant for our Pre-surgical Screening & Physician Practice. You will work under supervision of a MD or RN in a modern outpatient setting.

Regular full-time, day shift (8 AM - 4:15 PM), with responsibilities including patient prep, data collection, specimen handling, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and timely throughput.

Competenze

• High school diploma or GED required; CMA certification preferred.
• 2 years of MA/ Nursing Technician/ EMT experience or military corpsman with orthopedic exposure.
• BLS certification required.

Mansioni

• Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for examinations.
• Obtain PCR nasal swabs for pre-surgical patients.
• Assist nurses in pre-surgical screening and vitals collection (venipuncture, EKG).
• Prepare specimens for lab and ensure hand-off to courier.

Medical Assistant - Long Island Outpatient Center: Uniondale, NY

Pre-surgical Screening & Physician Practice

Monday – Friday (8 AM - 4:15 PM)

Working under the supervision of a MD or Registered Nurse, you will provide care to patients in our modern, newly constructed physician office setting. Begin your workday by walking through an art gallery at the Omni Building. Finish the day in close proximity to museums, restaurants, shopping, and universities.

The base pay scale for this position is $34.47 - $34.47. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

Minimum Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and be a Certified Medical Assistant
• 2 years experience as a Medical Assistant/Nursing Technician/EMT or Military Corpsman with minimum 1 year experience in orthopedic practice or other surgical subspecialty in an ambulatory setting.
• BLS Certification

Scope Of Duties

• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams (Registration, Radiology, Physician Practice Management, Physical Therapy)
• Escorting patients to exam rooms and preparing them for examinations, reviewing patient statuses and assisting in obtaining patient data.
• Obtain PCR nasal swabs for pre-surgical patients
• Support the Pre-Surgical Screening program by assisting nurses and obtaining vital signs, lab specimens (venipuncture) and EKG’s.
• Preparing specimens for the lab and ensuring hand-off to courier
• Foster efficient patient throughput, deliver excellent customer service, and establish and maintain an organized professional environment.
• Assist the physician in treatments and procedures and ensure physician orders are completed in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate proficiency in cast removal, suture and staple removal, and application of off the shelf braces.
• Maintain sensitivity and awareness of cultural and religious diversity when addressing patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers.
