Job summary

CHS Corporate in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care and clinic operations under physician supervision. You will perform clinical and administrative tasks, assist with procedures, manage patient intake, and help maintain exam rooms to ensure efficient clinic operations.

Ideal candidates have a Medical Assistant program completion and 0-1 years of experience, with BCLS certification.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Medical Assistant program preferred
  • 0-1 years of experience in a medical practice setting or externship required
  • BCLS certification required

Responsibilities

  • Assist providers with non-invasive medical procedures, such as taking vital signs and preparing patients for exams.
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms before patient visits and clinical procedures.
  • Perform patient intake duties, including reporting test results, phone triage, and documenting medical information as directed by licensed personnel or providers.
  • Review and maintain daily logs and documentation.
  • Support administrative duties, including pre-registering patients, scheduling appointments, coordinating referrals, verifying insurance eligibility, and managing clinic communications.
  • Maintain an organized workload while providing prompt, courteous, and efficient service to providers, patients, and visitors.
  • Monitor and requisition supplies and equipment to ensure appropriate inventory levels and functionality.
  • Educate patients on medications, diets, and other health-related topics, addressing questions to ensure understanding.

Job Summary
The Medical Assistant supports patient care by performing clinical and administrative tasks under the supervision of a medical provider.   • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Medical Assistant program from an accredited school preferred
  • 0-1 years of experience in a medical practice setting or completion of externship program required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of medical office procedures and patient care techniques.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office and medical record systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide exceptional service to patients and staff.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and infection control practices.
  • Effective time management, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Critical thinking abilities to analyze situations and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Licenses and Certifications

  • BCLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) required
