Job summary

Orlando Health Digestive Health Institute in downtown Orlando seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to support scheduling, preregistration, and patient flow. You will validate demographics, verify insurance benefits, obtain prior authorizations, and coordinate referrals for optimal coverage.

Responsibilities include assisting physicians during exams, entering orders into the EMR, and communicating with patients and families.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school or equivalent work experience.
• Maintains current BLS Healthcare Provider certification and appropriate MA credentials.
• Certifications in CMA/CCMA/CMAC/NCMA/NRCMA or equivalent recognized by major certifying bodies.

Responsibilities

• Oversees scheduling and preregistration duties including patient demographic validation, insurance verification, prior authorizations, referrals, and follow-up care.
• Provides support to physicians and leadership by coordinating provider assignments for optimal coverage.
• Gathers patient data through interview and observation and assists patients and families with examination preparation.
• Assists the physician during examinations and procedures and documents data in the EMR system according to policy.
• Acts as a liaison to schedule specialty tests and physician consultations and handles calls professionally and independently.
• Helps develop orientation for Medical Assistants and participates in annual clinical reviews to assess competence.
