Job summary

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant for the General Dermatology Clinic. This 40-hour-per-week role runs Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm, on the First Shift, focused on supporting dermatology procedures and patient care from check-in to follow-up.

Responsibilities include preparing rooms, documenting histories in the EMR, scribing, dressing applications, and patient education while maintaining infection control and clinical precision.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program required.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills required.
  • BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA) upon completion of unit orientation required.
  • If required to administer medications, Medication Aid Registry or equivalent within 30 days of hire.

Position Highlights:

As a key member of our Dermatology team, the Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting high-quality, patient-centered dermatologic care. This position combines clinical proficiency, compassionate communication, and a strong understanding of dermatologic procedures to enhance the patient experience from check-in to follow-up.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare exam rooms and assist dermatologists during dermatologic procedures.
  • Accurately document patient histories, medications, and dermatologic concerns in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Perform clinical tasks such as scribing, applying dressings, and providing post-care instructions.
  • Maintain sterile technique and ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
  • Support patient education on skincare routines, post-procedure care, and treatment plans.

Job Description:

Provides the highest quality of customer service for patients and others by performing all duties in a professional and engaging manner. Provide quality care to patients, under the direction of licensed practitioners, promote efficient operation of the clinic, and provide assistance to physicians and support staff.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program required.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA) upon completion of unit orientation required.
  • If required to administer medications, current Medication Aid Registry listing or completed within first 30 days of hire or transfer date, and maintained thereafter required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a physician's office preferred.
  • Experience in a related area preferred.
  • Ability to be bilingual in English and Spanish for working in certain clinics preferred.
  • Medical assistant certification preferred.
  • Medical Scribe experience preferred.
