We’re Looking For
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must have a medical assistant diploma or 2 years of medical assistant experience or be a certified MA with 2 years of medical assistant experience, to qualify.

What You’ll Do

Schedule: Monday–Thursday 8:00 AM–4:30 PM; Friday 7:30 AM–4:00 PM. This position is primarily assigned to the General Surgery department. The Medical Assistant will support providers at multiple clinic locations and serve as a float MA to provide coverage as needed. Daily assignments may vary based on operational needs.

Mondays, Thursdays, every other Friday from 8-430p. - Breast Surgery

As a Medical Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in the care team – supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day.

As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will:

  • Welcome patients and support their transition into care.
  • Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.
  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed.
  • Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.
  • Document care accurately in the electronic health record.
  • Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.
About This Location

AMG General Surgery is a multi-site surgical practice serving patients across several locations throughout the south and southwest suburbs, including Oak Lawn, Tinley Park, Orland Park, Beverly, and Trinity. Our team provides care for a wide range of general surgery conditions, including gallbladder disease, hernias, thyroid and parathyroid conditions, lipomas, cysts, melanoma, and other surgical needs. Our providers see a diverse patient population across multiple outpatient clinic locations, with clinic volume varying by provider and location. We are looking for team members who are flexible, collaborative, and comfortable supporting multiple providers and locations while helping maintain an efficient, patient-centered clinic environment.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
  • Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
  • Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
  • Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.
  • May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
  • Physical Abilities Testing may be required.
  • Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.
