Job summary

GoHealth Urgent Care is hiring a Medical Assistant for our urgent care centers. The role supports patient intake, vital signs, and basic testing, and collaborates with physicians to ensure smooth patient flow.

We welcome candidates from various clinical backgrounds. Certifications or enrollment in programs are valued, with potential sign-on bonuses and monthly incentive pay based on performance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of MA experience in hospital, primary care, ED, or urgent care.
• MA certifications: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA (or obtain within 12 months).
• Nursing or EMT/Paramedic backgrounds welcomed.
• CPOE & BLS certifications preferred or obtained within required timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance and documentation.
• Schedule appointments and process co-pays.
• Prepare patients for examination and record medical history.
• Perform vital signs and preliminary assessments.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG).
• Assist providers with patient care and procedures.
• Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and medical records.
• Coordinate referrals and answer patient questions.
• Perform opening/closing duties and equipment quality checks.
• Support a safe, organized, patient-centered clinical environment.

Job Requirements

Education

Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent

AND

• 1+ years of working experience as a Medical Assistant in a Hospital, Primary Care, Emergency Department, or Urgent Care setting

OR

• One of the following MA certifications at the time of hire (or must obtain within 12 months of hire):
• CCMA- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (verified through NHA, National Health career Association)
• CMA- Certified Medical Assistant (verified through AAMA, American Association of Medical Assistants, or CHP Certified Health Professionals)
• RMA- Registered Medical Assistant (verified through AMT, American Medical Technologists, or AAH, American Allied Health, or ARMA American Registry of Medical Assistants)
• NCMA- National Certified Medical Assistant (verified through NCCT, National Center for Competency Testing)
• NRCMA- Nationally Registered Certified Medial Assistant (verified through the National Association for Health Professionals)

OR

• One of the following:
• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing, LPN or LVN at the time of hire (verified through state license)
• EMT- Emergency Medical Technician (verified through state certification and/or the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians)
• Paramedic (verified through state certification and/or and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians)

Required Licenses/Certifications

• CPOE certificationrequiredwithin 2 weeks of hire if MA certification is not obtained at hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)

One of the following certifications is required (or must obtain within 12 months of hire)
