Job summary

Agile Occupational Medicine is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant in Oakland, CA to support clinicians in delivering high-quality care. You will handle clinical and administrative tasks, schedule appointments, manage records, and assist with basic procedures.

The position offers a daytime, Monday–Friday schedule with an hourly wage of $22.00–$24.00, dependent on experience and location, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Certification as CMA or RMA preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures and medications.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced setting.
• Previous medical assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with scheduling, patient records, billing and coding.
• Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries.
• Verify insurance coverage and process claims.
• Take vital signs and administer medications as directed.
• Assist providers with drug testing, physicals and drawing blood.
• Maintain clean and organized back office and exam rooms.
• Provide patient education and answer questions.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and ethics.
• Follow company policies and collaborate with staff.
• Assist with medical procedures as needed and perform other duties.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Compensation

Starting compensation range is $22.00-$24.00 hourly. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.

Responsibilities

• Assist with scheduling appointments, managing patient records, assisting with billing and coding tasks
• Answering phone calls and responding to patient inquiries
• Verifying insurance coverage and processing insurance claims
• Performing basic clinical tasks, such as taking vital signs and administering medications
• Assisting our providers with drug testing, physical evaluations, drawing blood samples and other clinical duties
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the back office and exam rooms
• Providing patient education and answering patient questions
• Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and ethical standards
• Follow company policies, procedures, and directives
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the smooth operation of the practice
• Assisting with medical procedures as needed.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred
• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and medications
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
• Previous experience as a medical assistant preferred
