CentroMed is a 501(c)(3) non‑profit primary care provider and Federally Qualified Health Center serving the San Antonio and New Braunfels areas.

Job Summary

We are searching for a SUPER STAR Medical Assistant to assist the physician with physical examinations and conduct nursing treatments and procedures according to documented orders. The Medical Assistant must be well‑versed in departmental policies, maintain excellent public and working relationships, and be familiar with community health and social services.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Take patient history, vital signs, symptoms and conditions and document them in the medical record.
• Administer patient immunizations following clinical protocols and provider's instructions.
• Administer medications and treatments ordered by the provider.
• Check the treatment room for properly functioning equipment and stock supplies.
• Perform laboratory duties, including daily quality checks, specimen processing and documentation, cleaning and disinfection of lab and equipment, and submit QC and patient testing logs monthly.
• Travel to other Centro del Barrio sites to carry out duties.
• Assist the provider in specialized examinations and treatments/procedures as directed.
• Keep and maintain the inventory for the supply room and assist the LVN Nurse Supervisor in other duties.
• Perform venipuncture as ordered by provider.
• Abide by infection control policies and procedures as dictated in the Centro del Barrio Infection Control Manual.
• Abide by policies and procedures on hazardous materials and all safety policies as dictated in the Employee Safety Manual.
• Demonstrate competence with all patients.
• Participate in the agency's Quality Improvement Program.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent and completion of a Medical Assisting Program.
• Experience: 1 year experience in a clinic or hospital setting preferred.
• Knowledge of departmental policies and standards; ability to efficiently perform assignments.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Must be able to meet the attendance requirements of the position.
• Must not pose a threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
• Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted.
• Must be able to deliver excellent customer service internally and externally.
