Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Vocational Nurse program.
• Valid CA LVN license required.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association and/or the American Red Cross required.
• IV/BW (intravenous/blood withdrawal) certification required within 1 year of hire.
• 1+ years of LVN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sets up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needs.
• Performs initial nursing intake and prepares patients for examination.
• Prepares patients for examination by reviewing current medications and documents in medical record.
• Prepares medical chart and records patient information needed for visit, such as vitals and reason for visit.
• Coordinates prescribed medications, injections, or IV medications as advised by provider.
• Provides basic patient care and treatments including vitals, diagnostic tests, phlebotomy, and specimen collection.
• Observes patient, documents changes, and reports to provider for action.
• Evaluates nursing intervention outcomes within LVN scope.
• Answers patient and physician messages with provider input.
• Acts as patient advocate and applies resources to support care.
• Reviews MA skills and performance using evaluation tools.
• Performs quality assurance and quality control to maintain clinical compliance.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Sets up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needs
• Performs initial nursing intake and prepares patients for examination.
• Prepares patients for examination by reviewing current medications and reviewing documents in medical record.
• Prepares medical chart and records patient information needed to support the reason for visit such as vital signs and reason for visit.
• Coordinates prescribed medications, injections, or IV medications using standard process and as advised by provider.
• Provides basic patient care and treatments such as taking vitals, performing diagnostic tests, phlebotomy, and specimen collection advised by the provider.
• Observes patient, documents, and reports any changes in condition to the provider for instructions in taking vital actions for care.
• Evaluates nursing intervention outcomes within the LVN scope of practice.
• Answers patient and physician incoming messages with provider input.
• Serves as a patient advocate and applies appropriate resources to support patient care.
• Provides review of MA skills and performance abilities using designated evaluation tools.
• Performs quality assurance and quality control measures to maintain compliance in the clinical environment.

Qualifications

Education:

• Completion of an accredited Vocational Nurse program
