Job summary

Compass Oncology is seeking a Medical Assistant to float between Oregon clinics, supporting the Oncology team on patient flow and assisting with rooming, vitals, and coordination for providers.

The role involves direct clinical support, clerical tasks, and adherence to the US Oncology Compliance Program. Candidates should have 1–3 years of MA or nursing assistant experience and CPR certification.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
  • Current CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.
  • Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.
  • Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, including hormones and growth factors.
  • Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Processes instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
  • Schedules patient tests, procedures and hospital admissions and follows up on test results.

Medical Assistant who will float between our Oregon clinics. Working as part of our Oncology team that is on the cutting edge of cancer care and treatment, our Medical Assistants play a crucial role in the daily patient flow, assisting a specific Physician/APP. Assisting with rooming patients, taking vitals, and communications on behalf of the provider, our MAs play a crucial role in the Cancer Care Continuum. An energetic individual with Oncology or Specialty experience will find the most success in this role.

Employment Type: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday-Friday

Location: Float position that will require travel between Oregon clinics.

Salary Range: $21.09-$35.65 Per Hour

Final offer amounts are determined by a review of the candidate’s applicable experience and qualifications, as well as, internal employee equity considerations.

Job Scope: Under direct supervision, assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. Promotes efficient patient flow and patient care (e.g. exams and procedures). Performs clinic support tasks including miscellaneous clerical tasks, answering phones, and maintaining physician’s schedule. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

  • Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, including but not limited to hormones and biological growth factors.
  • Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Processes instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
  • Phon​es in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as required or directed by physicians.
  • Schedules patient tests, procedures and hospital admissions and schedules appointments to follow‑up on test results, as applicable.
  • Obtains new patient records and previous test results, x‑rays, scans, etc.
  • Performs other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing, faxing reception, etc., as requested by supervisor or physician.
Qualifications

Education:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
  • Current CPR certification required.

Experience/Training:

  • Minimum (1–3) years of experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant, preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Work will involve in‑person interaction with co‑workers and management and/or clients. Work may require minimal travel by automobile to office sites.
