Job summary

Henry Ford Health System is seeking Medical Assistants to float across our clinics to support staffing needs. The role requires a minimum commitment of two days per week with potential to move to full-time schedules and occasional weekend opportunities with pay differential.

Under supervision, you will perform administrative and clinical tasks, greet patients, take histories, measure vital signs, prepare exam rooms, and assist physicians during examinations.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED; MA program with externship preferred.
• MA certification or experience relevant to ambulatory care.
• EPIC EMR experience preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and escort patients to exam rooms.

Job Description

Henry Ford Health System’s internal staffing department, designed to ensure there is sufficient staffing throughout our health system. The department is a proactive solution to unplanned or short-term staffing needs due to vacations, call-offs, leave of absences, increases in census or acuity.

Medical Assistants will float to various Henry Ford clinics to provide support. Minimum commitment is two days per week with opportunities to work up to a full time schedule.

Must be flexible on location and clinic.

Hours are primarily Monday through Friday, 8 hour shifts.

Occasional weekend opportunities (optional) with pay differential.

Under direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate care provided to patients. These duties include the greeting and escorting of patients to the exam room; taking medical histories, the measurement and recording of vital signs; preparing patients for the examination/procedure; and assisting the physician during the examination/procedure. Demonstrates clinical competence as a Medical Assistant.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills preferred. Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills as related to ambulatory patient care preferred. Ability to problem‑solve preferred. Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills preferred. EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience preferred. Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills. Successful completion of HFMG pharmacology class and test.

Additional Requirements

• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum). With a minimum of one-year continuous work as Medical Assistant with verifiable clinical experience
• OR-Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years. OR- Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting. OR-
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). OR- Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience.
• OR- Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.

Certifications/Licensures Required

• Current BLS Certificate.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
