Job summary

PIH Health Downey Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant to work under general supervision performing a variety of clinical procedures and patient care tasks. You may float between departments and occasionally travel to support patient access and workflow.

Responsibilities include processing outside referrals (HMO and PPO), maintaining accurate records, and notifying stakeholders of outcomes. Strong clinical skills, English fluency, and experience with EHR systems are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduation certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Minimum six months of front/back medical office experience; two years preferred.
• Valid California Driver’s License if hiring into Float Pool.
• Excellent communication and ability to stay composed in high-activity settings.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care procedures under supervision and assist clinical tasks.
• Process outside referrals (HMO/PPO) and maintain accurate records.
• Maintain patient safety, infection control, and EHR documentation.
