Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant II to support our Family Medicine practice in Walpole, MA. The role involves direct patient care, arranging exams, and assisting physicians with both clinical and non-clinical tasks to ensure smooth patient flow.

Responsibilities

  • Take vital signs, document patient information, schedule appointments and manage patient flow.

  • Explain treatment procedures and organize educational materials for patients.
  • Perform general office duties and liaise with departments while advocating for patients.
  • Collect blood and other specimens; log and prepare for testing; phlebotomy if competent.
  • Maintain immunization inventory and check expiration dates; administer immunizations when certified.
  • Support quality initiatives and ensure patient safety measures in the clinic.

Job Summary

Located at 111 Norfolk Street, Walpole MA, our Family Medicine practice provides complete care to both individual patients and whole families, including:

  • Infants
  • Children
  • Teens
  • Adults
  • Seniors

We deliver a full range of preventive and health maintenance care. Our doctors also treat a range of acute and chronic health problems. In addition, we coordinate our patients’ care when they need treatment by specialists. We are a small office with a close-knit team of Providers, Medical Assistants and front desk staff who run our practice as a cohesive team! If you are looking to join a collaborative team who works closely together this is the position for you! We are seeking a full-time 40-hour Medical Assistant II to support out practice onsite Monday through Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm with one shorter day during the week 8:00am-2:30pm! Our Medical Assistants play an integral part in the operations of our community-based physician practices. Dedicated to clinical support, the Medical Assistant ensures a smooth patient flow within the practice and assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of physician or advanced practitioner.

Summary The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers.

Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care. Essential Functions
  • Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training.
  • Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.
  • Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
  • Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
  • Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.
  • Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.
  • Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.

  • Licenses and Credentials Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Various Issuers preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Various Issuers preferred
  • Experience Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required
